By accessing or using the Readers Base ("Platform," "Service," "we," "us," or "our"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and all applicable laws and regulations. If you do not agree with any of these terms, you are prohibited from using or accessing this Platform.

2. Use License and Account Registration

2.1 Account Creation

To use certain features, you must create an account. You agree to:

• Provide accurate and complete registration information
• Maintain the security of your password
• Notify us immediately of any unauthorized use
• Be responsible for all activities under your account
• Not create multiple accounts or share accounts

2.2 User Roles

Our platform offers different user roles:

• Reader: Access to read and discover published content
• Author: Create, write, and publish books using AI assistance
• Editor: Professional editing and review capabilities (requires approval)
• Moderator: Content moderation privileges (requires approval)

3. User Content and Intellectual Property

3.1 Your Content

You retain all ownership rights to content you create on our Platform. By publishing content, you grant us:

• A non-exclusive, worldwide license to host, store, and display your content
• Permission to create backups and derivative formats for platform functionality
• Right to display your published works to readers on the platform

3.2 Content Standards

You agree that your content will not contain:

• Illegal, harmful, or threatening material
• Content that infringes on intellectual property rights
• Hate speech, harassment, or discriminatory content
• Sexually explicit content involving minors
• Spam, malware, or deceptive content
• Private information of others

3.3 Platform Content

All Platform code, design, features, and functionality are owned by us and protected by copyright, trademark, and other laws. You may not copy, modify, or reverse engineer any part of the Platform.

4. Paid Services and Subscriptions

4.1 Subscription Plans

We offer subscription plans with different features and usage limits. By subscribing, you agree to:

• Pay the subscription fees as described on our pricing page
• Automatic renewal unless cancelled before the renewal date
• Potential price changes with 30 days notice

4.2 Credit System

AI features consume credits based on usage. Credits are:

• Non-refundable and non-transferable
• Valid for the duration of your active subscription
• Reset monthly according to your plan

4.3 Revenue Sharing

Authors may earn revenue through:

• Advertising: Share of ad revenue from readers viewing your content
• Premium Subscriptions: Revenue from readers subscribing to access premium content
• Must comply with revenue sharing terms and tax requirements
• Payments processed through Stripe Connect
• Minimum payout threshold of $50

5. Prohibited Uses

You may not use the Platform to:

• Violate any local, state, national, or international law
• Harass, abuse, or harm others
• Impersonate any person or entity
• Transmit viruses, malware, or harmful code
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Platform
• Scrape, data mine, or harvest information without permission
• Use automated systems (bots) without authorization
• Interfere with the proper functioning of the Platform
• Circumvent any access restrictions or usage limitations

6. Content Moderation

We reserve the right to:

• Review, monitor, or moderate any user content
• Remove content that violates these Terms
• Suspend or terminate accounts for violations
• Report illegal activity to law enforcement

Content moderation decisions are made at our sole discretion. We are not obligated to monitor all content but may do so at any time.

7. AI-Generated Content

7.1 AI Assistance

Our Platform uses AI to assist with writing and content creation. You acknowledge that:

• AI-generated content may not always be accurate or appropriate
• You are responsible for reviewing and editing AI-generated content
• You retain ownership of content created using AI assistance
• AI responses are provided "as is" without warranties

7.2 Third-Party AI Services

We use third-party AI providers (OpenAI, Anthropic, etc.). Your content sent to these services is subject to their respective terms and privacy policies.

8. Termination

8.1 By You

You may terminate your account at any time through your account settings. Termination does not entitle you to a refund of any fees already paid.

8.2 By Us

We may suspend or terminate your account if:

• You violate these Terms of Service
• Your account is inactive for 24 months
• We are required to do so by law
• Continued provision would cause harm to us or others

8.3 Effect of Termination

Upon termination:

• You lose access to your account and content
• Unpublished content may be deleted after 30 days
• Published content may remain accessible to readers
• Outstanding payment obligations remain due

9. Disclaimers and Limitations of Liability

9.1 Service "As Is"

The Platform is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, secure, or error-free.

9.2 Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including loss of profits, data, or other intangible losses.

9.3 Maximum Liability

Our total liability shall not exceed the amount you paid to us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

10. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the Platform, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including legal fees) arising from:

• Your use of the Platform
• Your content
• Your violation of these Terms
• Your violation of any rights of another person or entity

11. Dispute Resolution

11.1 Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States of America and the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

11.2 Arbitration

Any disputes arising from these Terms shall be resolved through binding arbitration, except for:

• Claims of intellectual property infringement
• Claims for injunctive relief
• Small claims court matters

12. Changes to Terms

We reserve the right to modify these Terms at any time. We will notify users of material changes via email or platform notification. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.
